This fine jewelry with rebel leanings is made to be loved and layered in your everyday life, no special occasion required. Bold utilitarian chains, safety pin earrings, ID tag pendants and other playful adornments are the brainchild of Rachel Loren, a Los Angeles-based designer with a penchant for dark romanticism.

Artisanal Approach

The collections are handmade in small batches by local artisans and craftsmen in the historic jewelry district in downtown Los Angeles and a family-owned factory in Vicenza, Italy. Thoughtful and methodical, the jewelry makers use vintage machines and time-tested techniques like in-house casting and hand-detailing to ensure the highest quality of every single piece.

Sustainably Made

The brand is a member of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and The Responsible Jewelry Council and prides itself on using consciously sourced, high-quality metals, mostly casting its fine jewelry from 14k gold and sterling silver. Loren Stewart strictly partners with manufacturers who follow high sustainability standards and operate in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations for work environments.

Upcycled Materials

Loren started the brand in 2009, upcycling vintage gold to create unique, personable pieces she dreamed of but couldn’t find. Today, the brand continues to seek out recycled gold and diamonds, ensuring that the suppliers of any new metals and gems are thoroughly vetted and can trace their materials back to conflict-free areas.

“I love the dichotomy of something dark around the edges but polished too. There’s a beautiful harmony in that sentiment.”
